Trained as an architect, lwl enjoys manifesting her passion for architecture beyond buildings believing that the basis of architecture/design thoughts is not bounded by genre. Her interest in space/time and its relationship with people and the society thus stretches across a spectrum of manifestations, from a way of life to design methodologies, architecture, installations, theatre/film to objects.
Enjoying collaborative work and the value of crossing boundaries, she co-founded [+O], a multi-disciplinary group which was selected as a presenter of Singapore Supergarden, Singapore Pavilion in the 11th Venice Biennale International Architecture Exhibition 2008. Some of her notable projects include Whatdoyouwanttobe, Strange•R? developed at Tokyo Wonder Site, exhibited in London Design Festival & Singapore Arts Festival, installation for Blueprint in Milan for Milan Design Week, installation for Sound Seed Project commissioned as part of the Huayi Festival by Esplanade Theatres by the Bay, Singapore. Other installation and scenography projects also include 0501, a collaborative work devised and conceptualised by 10 artists presented by the Finger Players, amongst her other works. She is also co-running a design studio at The School of Design Nanyang Polytechnic.
lwl is a graduate of the National University of Singapore in Architecture and subsequently received Masters of Arts in Design Futures with Distinction from Goldsmiths College, University of London. She was selected as a Creator-in-residence at Tokyo Wonder Site in 2009. Her awards include the President’s Design Award 2007, Design of the Year, for her installation in 0501.
林瑋翎, 創作動機來自於從複雜的日常生活中尋找簡單的生存之道。受過建築背景的專業訓練，她認為建築/設計的概念不應受限於任何類別，而是一種觀念和生活態度。她的創作主題大多圍繞在時間/空間與人的關係，呈現形態涵蓋自生活的信仰、設計方法、建築、裝置藝術、劇場舞台、電影場景與物件設計。
基於相信集體創作中不受任何類別限制的可能性, 瑋翎在2005年成立跨領域創作團體 [+O], 該團體作品發表於2008年 威尼斯雙年展建築館–新加坡Supergarden。創作作品亦參加國際個大展覽，包括2009年東京駐村時期發想作品
瑋翎畢業於國立新加坡建築系, 倫敦大學金匠學院設計傑出碩士。2009年獲選日本東京Tokyo Wonder Site 駐村藝術家。作品<0501>並於2007年獲得新加坡總統設計獎之年度最佳設計。
